Accounting Manager

Brøndby IF is seeking an Accounting Manager for a newly established role that will play a central part in developing the company’s external reporting and compliance setup. The Accounting Manager will work closely with colleagues in the finance department and interact with various parts of the organization. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the CFO.

The company is listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen and prepares its annual report in accordance with IFRS. Additionally, Brøndby IF is subject to reporting requirements from DBU and UEFA. Brøndby IF is part of the Global Football Holdings L.P. Group which also has ownership in football clubs in Belgium, Portugal and Germany.

In other words, we seek to balance the cost of producing reports and ensuring compliance with the value these bring to stakeholders. Significant events at Brøndby IF are continuously communicated via our website and social media channels and receive extensive coverage from external media. Therefore, we recognize that much of our statutory reporting has already been communicated through other channels, making a lean and efficient reporting process our key priority.

 

Key Responsibilities:

External Reporting:

  • Lead and actively contribute to the preparation of the annual and semi-annual reports.
  • Prepare tax returns and transfer pricing reporting to SKAT.
  • Oversee the DBU License application process.
  • Lead the implementation of ESG reporting, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company strategy.

Accounting and Financial Controlling:

  • Lead and actively contribute to the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, as well as operational ownership of significant and complex accounting areas including posting and reconciliation.  
  • Own the relationship with the company’s external auditors and coordinate audit processes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies.
  • Assess risk in financial processes and strengthen internal controls where relevant from a cost-benefit perspective.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the company’s cash position and implement adequate treasury policies.
  • Take responsibility for the company’s insurance program, ensuring the right level of coverage.
  • Lead the preparation process for the Annual General Assembly.
  • Support on various legal work 
  • Drive project management initiatives, including financing and capital market transactions, as well as other projects.

Your Profile:

  • Solid background in accounting, financial controlling, and external reporting. Experience from a larger audit firm is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Experience with tax regulations, transfer pricing, and ESG reporting is desirable.
  • Experience with AI applications in work processes is viewed as a plus.
  • Relevant educational background such as Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Financial and Management Accounting), Master of Science (MSc) in Economics and Business Administration in Finance and Accounting or a similar master’s degree in accounting.
  • Positive and proactive mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in Danish and English, both written and spoken.

Success criteria:

  • Independently drive the external reporting and compliance processes, ensuring the right balance between production cost and quality.
  • Proactively manage regulatory changes (IFRS, UEFA, etc.) and assess their impact on the company.
  • Act as a trusted sparring partner to Executive Management.
  • Own the strategic agenda on accounting and compliance areas.
  • Continuously improve financial and accounting processes, focusing on eliminating inefficiencies and waste.
  • Positively influence team and organizational performance through constructive sparring and personal excellence.
